Have you seen the TV show about extreme couponers? Crazy huh? What are they going to do with 180 toothbrushes? I feel these people go a little too far. It borders on being greedy and wasteful.
BUT...
I have to admit that I have started using coupons. I try to buy things that are on sale. The best deal is when things are buy one, get one free. There are two main stores I shop at - Cub and Walgreens. I buy things that my family will use or eat and not buy items just because I have a coupon.
The key is to clip coupons and then watch the weekly ads to see what is on sale. It takes a little time and planning, but you can do it.
For example - I ran to cub to buy mayo, canned chili, and frozen pretzel snacks. They were all on sale AND I had coupons. I bought other items too but tried to stick with those that were on sale. I also had a few buy one, get one free coupons. I got - a pork roast, pack of four pork chops, package of boneless chicken breasts, and a ham. All free.
In the last couple weeks I ran to Walgreens and was able to get
SIX sticks of men's deodorant, two bottles of body wash, two boxes of tissues, two bars of soap, two tubes of toothpaste, and one mascara -
for free. Free!
How much have I saved by using coupons? $113.00 in the last four weeks.
That's a lot of money and well worth the time.
I may order one of these
coupon organizers. OK - maybe I am starting to get a little extreme. :-)
